Jake is special to me in a way because they were my first original character. Jake doesn't feel the most comfortable with gender roles or with having to choose what gender they are. So they decided why not just be everything, a boy a girl whatever. Jake is a cheerful kid who always looks at the bright side. They have ADHD so when they forget  their medicine they are a little bit restless. Jake really enjoys sports even if they're no good at them. They somehow always find a way to fall and hurt themselves and that's why they have scars and scratches everywhere. But that doesn't stop them from practicing sports.
When it came to Jake I already felt like their scars were creepy enough so I didn't really add much. I did make their freckles into colorful stars  though, to reflect their personality. I wanted to make them a hand as u can see in the original sketch but after the struggles I had with Xaviers hand I decide not to make Jake a hand after all.
I found some colorful animal bands that I though would look good on the painting. I had trouble gluing them on because they just kept on popping off. The animals also got disfigured and didn't look like animals anymore so I just decide to glue them so they're just abstract shapes. Somehow Jakes portrait doesn't seem as magical as the others but I don't want to put glitter on every piece.
